March 7, 200718 yr I have just spent the morning setting up a sprinkler system and micro jet water sprays in my aviaires for the hot days. Just the turn of a tap- now and the birds are cool. PS I need to borrow your pied hen...I have a boy she may like

March 9, 200718 yr Auntie, what do you do to keep them cool? We had record heats last summer and its suposed to be worse this year. We got up to 120f (48.8c) We had fans going and like bubbles, a misting system. Poor things!

We got up to 120f (48.8c) We had fans going and like bubbles, a misting system. Poor things! Well I'm home everyday so i keep a very close eye on them. Anyone that has less then perfect health or age against them come inside. I go out every half hour to check them and they get misted with water. they are also under a huge tree so the temp in the avairy with shade and water is about 7c less and this seems to be enough at moment. But I am looking at a few alterations to help witht he heat next year .
