Posted March 6, 200718 yr My albino hen laid two infertile clutches at the end of last year. Half way thru the seond one she got ill. She is better and backin the avairy but in Feb she laid another clutch on the avairy floor all the eggs were broken. And now she has started laying a fourth time. I have no nesting boxes or approiate nesting places to try and discourage her. I don't want her to lay she needs a rest. These eggs are most likely infertile. If I allow her to nest an raise young will she get over laying? This continued laying must be wearing her out. I don't want to separate her from the main flock unless i have to to solve the problem. Any ideas to stop her laying? or should i let her lay? What would be best for her health in the long run? Meg
March 6, 200718 yr I would bring her inside into a cage for awhile. Keep the cage decor changing to keep her mind off the egg laying. Try not to have anything she will see as a nest. Definitely put her on some Calcivet to boost her calcium levels back up again.
March 6, 200718 yr If that doesn't work I know that Robin aka Pheobe takes her Coco to the vet for hormone shots to decrease the egg laying. She has a hen that lays all the time, if she doesn't see this post you could PM her.
March 9, 200718 yr I know of a few hens that kept laying, the owners replaced the eggs with fake ons and they quit laying and ended up giving up on the egg thing! I know you dont want her to lay anymore, but if she does, the fake ones do help
