Hi,

My new baby is definately a cinnamon. I've been assuming it is a male because the cere is very pinkish. But I was just reading up on cinnamon. Sylvester must be split for cinnamon as he isn't showing it. And I think that means that the baby must be a female.

Unless Jewel is masking cinnamon. But if she had the cinnamon gene, wouldn't she be a fallow? Hmmm. The cere really looks male at this point.

I'm not great with the genetics stuff. What do you guys think? Baby has to be female?

It would be a female because the female can't hid a sex linked gene so your thinking is right.

If Jewel was a cinnamon she would be a Lacewing (fallow is a different gene), but she would be showing brown markings, she can't 'hide' it under the Ino gene like opaline.

so your right your bub is a girl, when young there is a stage when both genders have bright pink ceres. I think I hinted in my post to your thread that you had a girl.
