Posted March 4, 200718 yr Hi, My new baby is definately a cinnamon. I've been assuming it is a male because the cere is very pinkish. But I was just reading up on cinnamon. Sylvester must be split for cinnamon as he isn't showing it. And I think that means that the baby must be a female. Unless Jewel is masking cinnamon. But if she had the cinnamon gene, wouldn't she be a fallow? Hmmm. The cere really looks male at this point. I'm not great with the genetics stuff. What do you guys think? Baby has to be female?
March 5, 200718 yr It would be a female because the female can't hid a sex linked gene so your thinking is right.
March 5, 200718 yr If Jewel was a cinnamon she would be a Lacewing (fallow is a different gene), but she would be showing brown markings, she can't 'hide' it under the Ino gene like opaline. so your right your bub is a girl, when young there is a stage when both genders have bright pink ceres. I think I hinted in my post to your thread that you had a girl.
