Pin Feathers?

Dunno if this is in the right forum, but I was just wondering if someone could tell me if Andromeda is getting her first pin feathers?

I took some pictures.

She has been biting more & seems to be irritable at times, and she has been rubbing her head alot/leaning it on her bell as if expecting to be groomed.

I have tried to have a grooming session with her, but she doesn't want me going anywhere near her head. She'll let me touch her wings, but not without biting.

She also likes to jump on to my hand & bite my fingers. She'll just sit there & chomp before going back to her perch, running around, and repeating. I'm not chasing her. It's kinda funny & doesn't hurt too much. It's definitely not the gentle grooming nibbles she does. It's CHOMP.

Anyway, if anyone could confirm or tell me about the pokey thingies coming out of her head, that would be great. I think they are her first pin feathers, but not 100% sure.

YES the spiky things coming out of her head are her pin feathers. She's bound to get a bit touchy and grumpy with it too. One of my babies has just moulted and went into near depression over it all. Now that she has come out of it, she's as happy as a pig in a mud puddle :)

Aww, my poor little girl. I can understand what she must be going through. It probably feels about as good as PMS.

I just wish she would let me help with those little pin feathers instead of her bell. I keep telling her I can groom her too, and I'll be gentle, but she doesn't believe me.

Thank you, Daz.

awwww.. she's adorable!!

Just wait till she gets an entire headfull of pins! They're so funny and pathetic looking. And when the feathers start coming out of the pins, they end up looking like they need to brush their hair.

i love when they have a head full of new feathers and then raise their head feathers hehe so cute.
