Posted February 25, 200718 yr They both having been biting, well nibbling even, on my fingers. Its unpainful at most times, but sometimes they would nibble too hard. Do you think I should worry about stopping it and if so how ?
February 25, 200718 yr some budgies don't stop I have 4 budgies and have only even been able to tame one of them because the others bite so hard to it could cut you
February 25, 200718 yr Scooter likes to do the same thing. It's definitely not biting, but nibbling. Budgies like to chew and sometimes they'll even chew on you. I have found that some sort of distraction works best for me. Whether it be a toy or a treat, I just use anything that will get his attention.
February 25, 200718 yr Author They are both 22 weeks old. I don't mind the nibbling but its just those odd moments when they bite hard, its hard not to pull away.
February 25, 200718 yr Hi! My male budgie bites me severly every time I handle him. I actually stopped doing it, and in case of necessity I put on gloves. Then I've noticed that my 9-year old daughter takes the little guy without gloves out of the cage. He produces loud sounds of protests but DOES NOT BITE her at all! Maybe he won't bite me either anymore? I am too cautious to try. Our other bird's bites are weak and gentle as if she feels it all is futile and she won't get far with it.
February 26, 200718 yr Have you check out e-terri's budgie website, cannot recall for sure but there might be a section on biting. Your birds are young enough that you should be able to modify their behaviour. :ygbudgie:
