Monty is almost 3 years old now and still has not learned to perch to eat or drink and neither can he fly. The poor guy is definitely physically and mentally challenged but he is just the greatest singer and he is always happy! The vet says there is no reason that he can't fly but he doesn't even cushion his fall, he goes kerplunk on the carpet and I am always scooping him up. He hangs upside down or sideways from the cage bars to eat and drink. Monty is also so daft he doesn't know when his witchy cagemate Happy is being mean to him, if we could all be this oblivious to the reality of things and be so content. Lesson to be learned here I guess.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Well he sure is cute!!!

He has lipomas like Happy but he sure is one content bird and singing away now.

It's just so weird how he never figured out the food dishes (and I tried several types).

He reminds me of my Steve -- really easy going and cheerful. How does he prefer to eat?

And he can't walk across the top of his cage or on the floor either, he trips over his own feet and lands up flat on his beak, very uncoordinated.

Aww.. poor guy. At least he's adapted and he looks like any silly, happy budgie.

Like feathers, I LOVE his colouring. He is a gorgeous budgie and looks to be quite a character too

I just scooped him off the floor, flat on his beak again, (If I ever get hardwood or laminate in this area, will have to have a mat under his cage to cushion his falls), thanks all for the nice comments.

Well, he keeps me happy by his singing but his total lack of coordination perplexes me, have never seen a budgie so wobbly and unfit before. Glad that his cagemate Happy likes him as she is a total witch but Monty is seemly oblivious to it all and takes it in his stride, good boy!

Robin it is so nice to see pics of the gang again he is gorgeous and I am so glad he is happy that is all that matters. Who wouldn't be happy with you though you are a great mom!

Awwww Monty is simply gorgeous!! He reminds me of my little Tango... he's not all there either, but boy does he love to sing his little heart out... the only budgies I have that will sing while sitting on my fingers.

Thanks Cheeta, that is EXACTLY what Monty does, happy, happy, singing along and oblivious to the world around him! He will probably live forever having no stress or issues in his life! I have never been able to get Monty to perch on my finger as he falls off.
