Favourite Toy

My budgie (bailey) has a strange obsession with a peanut (still shelled peanut)

We recently went to a wildlife park and they gave us a bag of peanuts to feed the birds there.

We had heaps left over so I bought them home and bailey had finished his seed treat so I used the wire from that to hang a peanut in his cage. He has too much fun swinging it around and if we break the edge open he completely pulls it apart.

Beaker doesn't seem to play much yet (unless you count the rabbit as a toy!) but our Pippin always loved his 'baby' the best out of all of his other toys. His baby was a little plastic birdhouse with a budgie head on a spring poking out of the hole. It was attached to the side of the cage right near his food dishes, and he was forever feeding it, grooming it, and talking to it (we always thought he would make a fabulous dad!). If we wanted him back in his cage, we would stick our hand in and wobble the baby, which would make a rattling sound, and Pip would get all agitated and fly back in to make sure the baby was alright, making a load of concerned sounds on the way.

He loved his baby right up to the end - during his week long stay in 'bird hospital' before he passed away, he had his baby with him in the incubator, and the staff said he was one of the most cheerful, playful little budgies they'd had. Despite being terminally ill, he was happy and playful until the end. :)

At one point it was bells that hang off of toys for Merlin and for Pretty the plastic balls now they don't play as much their favorite thing are each other :)

Blinkie likes anything hung above a perch that he can grab to balance while humping the perch below. :fear These toys that he decides are suitable usually have a bell on them. Ozzie absolute favourite is his half moon perch, he's always sitting there talking to himself or tapping the little bell. :ausb:

:D Coco likes anything with tassles or feathers or strings that she can rip apart (but she isn't doing any of that now as she is sitting on 3 eggs, little goof). The non=tame guys seem to like their mirrors and the tame guys seem to like their mirrors, they would all agree that the moving bead things are their favourites although Comet loves to bash the budgie head thing about. All of them would appear to like jostling their Olympic rings and the budgie/tiel pacifiers are a great hit with everybody. :P

Mine like the toys I make for them with straws and popsicle sticks. They love to chew on the straws and tear apart the sticks.

a few of my budgies really like shiny objects , they really love to play with spoons .

they also love to play with those plastic balls , they will pick it up and drop them on the floor and watch me pick them up and place it back on their gym , as soon as l turn around to walk away they will pick up the ball and drop it on the floor for me to pick it up again

;) Those annoying balls would be my cockatiel Jodie's FAVOURITE, no question, she has 8 of them (stupid me) and delights in throwing them off the top of the cage when she is out (which is most of the time when I am home). Sometimes she stands there, hanging over the top for ages and drops it a split second before I reach her. I wonder if birds have a sense of humor? Food for thought.

I know what you mean Phoebe and Birdluv! Except my birds do it with grapes because they make a big 'splat' sound and grape juice runs all over my floor making it sticky! They definately do have a sense of humour! :ausb:

Lukie seems to swop 'favourite toys' He will play with one toy for weeks then loses interest in it

and another toy becomes the favourite for another few weeks. He did love his ring with the cotton tassles on it for the longest time. He learnt how to 'wind it up' (it was on some thick cotton cord) and then sit on the ring as it spun round and round - the faster the better. He absolutely loved to do that. - it looked hilarious! He would get furious if I tried to wind it up for him - you could almost read his mind " I am quite capable of doing that myself, thank you!" Mr Independant.

He also loves to throw his ball on the floor (hasn't done that with grapes yet - that was so funny, Nikkitay, I could just picture it) He does throw any veg that he doesn't like on the floor. He watches it hit the ground just to make sure that he has made his point.

It is mirrors all the way with Bobby - give him a mirror and he will sit in front of it for hours on end! The others seem to love their boing, but I don't really see them playing with toys all that often. I noticed Sunny the other day playing with those balls in his cage, but I only have a couple of toys in there now cause they just seemed to annoy them more than entertain them.

Scooter does the exact same thing. It's so funny to watch. :(Laughing out loud):

He loves anything with a bell. He loves his big blue bell in particular. He wears it on his head like a hat and will sing to it. He sometimes even falls asleep with it still on his head. :(Laughing out loud):

with my lot, if it makes a noise, then its their favorite!

My budgie is obsesed with bells.

He dosnt realy care about the ladder or swing.

but he loves the bells.

He is always trying to pull the bell off the ladder which makes the ladder fall down.

The funniest thing ever was one time i hooked a detachable bell on the pole of the cage and he managed to unhooked it and swinged the bell with his beak all over the place.

he eventualy droped it and it scared him because of the loud noise. :(Laughing out loud):
