Posted February 13, 200718 yr alright so i was wondering what split to blue is because the female that has now layed 5 eggs had her first of clutch of two yellow faces and two greens and the dad was a blue so does that mean shes split to blue???
February 13, 200718 yr That depends on what colour the hen is. If she is green she could be split to blue which means if you pair her to a blue cock you should get blue chicks. If you pair her to a grey green you will get green, grey, grey green and blue.
February 13, 200718 yr Assuming that she is green. It could mean that she is split to blue - split to blue means to be carrying a "hidden" blue gene. If that is the case then your blue male is a double factor yellowface. You would get greens and yellowfaces. It could also mean that she is green split to yellowface. You would get greens and yellowfaces.
February 13, 200718 yr Author my male is a normal violet and the female is a normal green and ive heard if she is split to blue then i can get cobalts
February 13, 200718 yr It is from the same 2 birds that you got yellowfaces and greens? If yes, I don't think you would get any normal blues. If she is split to yellowface -- then she wouldn't have the gene for blue -- only green and yellowface. If she is split to blue, she has a gene for green and a gene for blue -- so the yellowfaces would have had to have come from the father -- but he visually looks white -- so he would have been a double factor yellowface. That means he could only have yellowface babies with her blue gene and green babies with her green gene.
February 13, 200718 yr Author the father is different and form the past father we got 1 yellowface wtih a blue body clearwing 1 blue yellowface and two normal greens like herself and if she is a yellowface would i get yellowface violets? Edited February 13, 200718 yr by budgie lover
February 13, 200718 yr Was the other father blue, green, or yellowface? And the female was the same female? -- she is green Edited February 13, 200718 yr by HurdyBirdy
February 13, 200718 yr It sounds like it will be pretty much the same.. you don't really know if the yellowfaces came from the mother or father. At this point , I would assume that she is split for yellowface -- but it could be blue. She shouldn't have all green babies -- so either yellowfaces or blues.
February 13, 200718 yr Author so if they become yellowfaces will they be purple base color with a yellowfacE?
February 13, 200718 yr that is adding another gene the violet one and that will depend if they get the two genes.
