March 1, 200718 yr Author Trouble isn't looking quite so pretty today Lovey, his mother ( I think ) has decided he looks better with a mohawk hairstyle and has plucked the back of his head. All other babies untouched. He is currently sporting the new hairdo ...a la vaseline. :ausb: Photos tomorrow Edited March 1, 200718 yr by Bubbles
March 1, 200718 yr Author Does the vaseline discourage the plucking? I hope so. I heard Nivea cream works too. If all else fails the vaseline will stick some wood shavings to the bald spot and Mum budgie may not like the taste of that either. :ausb:
March 1, 200718 yr His mom is jealous of his good looks just send him my way :ausb:, serious note I do hope the little bugger is okay.
March 2, 200718 yr Author Vaseline or not Trouble lost some more head feathers during the course of today. I am still not positive who is doing the plucking but feel almost certain it has to be the mother. I have removed Angel and Bubblegum is looking after the babies for now. We will see if this baby loses any more head feathers as it is the only one with a plucked head.
March 2, 200718 yr Trouble and tribble were my favorite. His head is so pink. He is still sooo cute. Edited March 2, 200718 yr by FGM
March 2, 200718 yr Awwww! :budgiedance: That sure is one HUGE Pied spot! :ausb: (Laughing out loud) Hope he gets better! Remids me of baby Oscar when his mom did that to him Remember that? I brought him home, 1/3 bald! (Laughing out loud) Kirby
March 3, 200718 yr Oh dear, I don't like the plucking thing just as I don't like egg thing, hope you can figure out a solution as we don't want another Dusty. But I would guess, at this young age, the feather follicles are not damaged and can be regrown.
March 3, 200718 yr Author What causes the mom's to start plucking? He's still a darling! I don't know in this case. It's the first time I have had a baby that was plucked and it's the only baby in the nest that has been plucked too. Maybe some form of stress on the mother. Since she was removed the baby has not been plucked any more so it must have been Mum budgie. Poor thing has a mostly bald head and has also lost quite a few feathers from back and wings. There are 4 babies out of the nest today, so I will leave them together. Geronimo is already eating seed, so the others might learn from him/her. I have been too busy to check sexes properly yet Edited March 3, 200718 yr by Bubbles

March 4, 200718 yr Author All the babies are gorgeous! Even little bald Trouble How would you describe Geronimo's coloring? Is he mauve or gray? Geronimo is a grey as his true father is a grey also and his mother a greygreen hen.
