February 6, 200718 yr 1. a separate place for the pair to breed in ( not with the others ) 2. the right age for the pair to be successful ( 12-18 months of age ) 3. Good health for the breeding budgies 4. A good strong perch of a decent diameter for mating purposes. Stable and not wonky or wobbly. 5. They like to hear birds i an aviary to feel in the mood to breed 6. They like to feel food and water is abundant 7. Birds like to breed more when it has been raining as to them it is a sign of the end of a drought. Your two males coming on Wednesday shouldn't be put straight in with the others ( quarantine ) and especially not straight into breeding as it would be "stress conditions" ( breeding) and may bring out illness in them. February 6, 200718 yr thanks alot bubbles i appreciate your infomation very much But i am trying to figure out something here i have a budgie name angel had her for 2 years she has been in breeding condition once since i had her and that was they day i got her i got her in breeding condition and she hasn't been back in since then. does anyone know why her hormones seems to be non-active If everything else is right, food, and extras, happy environment etc....the next thing to consider is she may be harbouring some latent ( hidden ) illness. Might be a good time to have her checked over by a vet. Also, she may have had problems before you bought her....eggbound or soft shelled egg problem. Hens who have been through this don't always go back into breeding condition for quite awhile.
