January 31, 200718 yr Hi, welcome to the forum. Lovely birds you have there. Does Little Boy Blue have a full set of flight feathers? If he has been clipped or has flights missing he will not be able to attain the lift he requires to fly. Feathers.
January 31, 200718 yr 1). Skyblue Whitewing - female 2). Yellow Faced Type 2 Skyblue Spangle Dilute Dominant Pied (this is alot but that what it looks like) - can't tell sex 3). Yellow Faced type 2 Cobalt Dominant Pied - female (it could be a dark green but I see blue and green which indicates yellow faced) 4). Light Green Ressescive Pied 5). Dark Green Normal 6). Cobalt Ressecive Pied Dilute (might not be dilute but the picture is foggy...) 7). Dark eyed clear or a DF Dominant Pied 8). Skyblue Opaline Sometimes the reason a bird can't fly is like feathers said above. They could loose thier flight feathers and that budgie looks English or part English so it is a heavy bird. Sometimes though I have seen at breeder's houses they have birds that can't fly because they have tumors. So if it dosen't get better by the next moult get him checked out...
January 31, 200718 yr Gorgeous birds. Your first bird did you use the flash? I ask because it can wash out the grey marking on the wings making it look like a clearwing but could be a fullbody greywing. So that is a question I have about April. For Rainbow if you can get a better shot of the back of the wing to ensure that there is spangle in there it looks like but not sure. Does Gina have iris rings? Because unless it is the camera I think I see the plum from recessive pied though her marks feature a dominant pied? June looks more like a green then a light but it could be my eyes and I agree Recessive Pied. Big Fellow Yellow Face Tye 2 normal green Chevy recessive pied could be violet or cobalt, but as Joey said hard to tell with the blur. May need a better picture all around because I believe the flash could have washed her out or she may just have that hue. If she has the hue then as Joey said DEC if she has no iris rings and DF spangle if there are iris rings if the bird has red eyes would be an ino. A lot of possibilities there. Little Boy would love to see another picture of him skyblue opaline but looks like he could be carrying the violet gene. Tips on photographing your birds. Don't use flash it washes them out, get as close as possible or if you can't before you post the pictures if you have a program that lets you bring the picture closer and crop that helps. Also try and get back and front shots straight foward instead of an angle when asking for mutations. These are just things I have learned when trying to figure them out. . Just helpful hints. You have gorgeous birds. As for your non flyer his secondary wings I believe are pointing down and they are not all uniformed and together, along with the tail feathers. Have you ever had him tested for any type of feather disease? You may want to do that to ensure his flying is not health related.
February 1, 200718 yr Author Hi Thanks for the comments and tips, i'm not very good at taking photos but i did try again. April has grey through her wings and May has some light blue or grey on her. As for Little Boy Blue we goy him and Big Fellow off a man who shows English birds. I'm not sure about his flight feathers, he hasn't been clipped. At the moment he is inside as he was always on the bottom of the avairy. Anyway here is some more and thanks again. April May Gina June Rainbow Chevy Big Fellow LBB
