Posted January 18, 200718 yr I wanted to know if it is okay to keep my bird room a little on the cool side. It seems that if I allow the heat from my house to warm up the room the birds start to drop feathers. I believe this is what has thrown two of my budgies into a molt. I would say the room is around 65-70 degrees. Actually, the birds are more active which seems strange. Also, is it okay to run a humidifier so that the air wont be so dry. I noticed that my birds scratch a lot and was thinking that it may be due to the dry into air. Thanks, Eric
January 18, 200718 yr We live in the same climate cold, snowy and dry (Laughing out loud). Yes it is okay to run a humidifer we do - we have a whole house one. Yes it is okay to keep the tempature cooler what gets birds sick is the up and down drastic changes. We keep our house at night around 60-65F and during the day believe it or not pretty much the same with gas prices being so high we really try to conserve ourselves.

It seems that since I have kept the door closed to the room the birds like it cooler. When it was getting too warm they started to act sluggish and started to scratch a lot. My one male just stopped moulting and his mate was feeding him a lot. I think she knew that he was a little weak from the moult and was taking care of him. I have heard that birds can take cooler temperatures. Thanks for the info. Eric
January 18, 200718 yr your welcome Think about the warmth it makes us all feel cozy and tired (Laughing out loud) the fresh air wakes us up and 60-65F here is really not that cold for us where we live.
