hi everybody

 

My friends who couldn't join this forum for some reason i think because the of the email purpose but he has so many questions and i told him this site was really good so he told me to ask here we good.

 

his budgies laid an egg the first time but not inside the nestbox from the perch because it had a hole

 

he said every time he puts it inside the nestbbox the budgies throw it out

 

is it because they don't want babies because they do visit the nest box all the time

 

the question is when will they lay another egg because he has seen them mating after that but its been more then 3 days after the first one was laid and he heard budgies lay eggs every other day

 

what if they lay the egg again from the perch not inside the box what can he do to make them lay it inside the box

 

thanks these are all his question i will tell him what every suggestion you guys give him thanks alot

I am not a breeder, so wait for their expert opinion, but I would assume an inexperienced hen (too young) or the egg has been rejected because it is not fertile, or for other reasons... If mating is still occuring then more eggs are possible.

 

 

Regarding your friend I assume you mean that he can't log on as he doesn't have a mail address attached to his ISP? You can't use yahoo or hotmail etc.

If the hen is young or this is her first time an extra day can accord before the next egg. BUT I would warn your friend to keep a close eye on her for signs of weakness or resting on the cage floor. This would mean she was egg bound and needs to be taken to an avian Vet Immediately.

 

They are throwing the egg out becuase they don't see it as theirs, she is still cleaning the nest site to make it hers and by putting the egg in she thinks another hen is taking the spot. If the egg is fine put it in a safe spot for the next little while and when she starts to lay in the box it can be added to the pile.I had a hen that laid eggs out of the box a few time before working out what to do correctly.

im with nerwen here a lot of new hens take a while to use the box but she will in time

my friends told me there is a three day gap now frm the girst egg and yet the second one is not layed he says he has seen them mating almost when ever he go visit them but no egg any suggestion and the hen and the male visit the nestbox all the time...

Just one more question i visited my friend and i saw the Egg it is very small. smaller then the once i have seen on this site is it because its the first egg.

Firstly the egg being thrown out is because it is the first egg that has a hole in it as you stated before. They know the egg is no good and thats why its being thrown out.

Secondly, I would suggest you make sure of the age of these budgies as a very small egg is a certain sign that the budgies are too young.

If the budgies are younger than a year or more of age, I would suggest you remove the nest box and wait for them to grow up. They sound both too young and immature to me.

I think they are more then a year of age because my friend bought them 5 months before i did and the place where we get them they sell budgies that are 4-6 months my budgies are almost a year old so his are way over a year.
