Posted January 7, 200718 yr l'm planning on starting to breed my budgies ( but not until June or July ) and l have a few questions . l would like to breed Claire , she is a sky blue dilute opaline , with Papaya , he is a yellow double factor spangle , what babies could l except to see from them ? l was wondering when should l start to condition them so they will be ready to breed ? what should l give them to help them be ready and healthy to breed ? what should l add to their diet ? l realize that since this would be their first clutch that it is a big possibility that the eggs won't be fertilized so how long would it be okay to leave the hen on those eggs if they are not fertilized ? when would it be alright for them to try again ? once they have breed how long should l wait to see if the eggs are fertilized ? what type of stuff should l have as a first aid kit just incase something goes wrong ? l understand that in case of an emergency that needs immediate vet care , l have my avian vet's number and after hour emergency number in hand , just incase l have to rush to the vet . my next question isn't really about breeding but l was wandering since l got Popcorn and Butter from the same pet store at the same time , l was thinking that they might be from the same clutch , is it possible to have a recessive pied and a double factor dominant pied from the same clutch ? Butter is a yellowface type II double factor dominant pied , he has one eye that is developing an iris , l also noticed on his back there is a dark blue patch . Popcorn is a yellowface type II sky blue recessive pied , she has no iris in her eye .
January 7, 200718 yr l was wondering when should l start to condition them so they will be ready to breed ? i give mine about 4 to 6 weeks to get in to condition what should l give them to help them be ready and healthy to breed ? i dont give anything extra same good quality seed, water, fresh veg, cuttle, iodene, mine get eggs and carrots every other day and every day once the eggs hatch, mine also get two doses a week if proabotics also after the first clutch i start to give a calcium supplement what should l add to their diet ?as above l realize that since this would be their first clutch that it is a big possibility that the eggs won't be fertilized so how long would it be okay to leave the hen on those eggs if they are not fertilized ?when would it be alright for them to try again ? once i find the eggs are not fertile i will take them away straight away and block the nest box hole up for approx 3 to 4 days and then let them go again once they have breed how long should l wait to see if the eggs are fertilized ? after about 4 days if you candle them you should start to see the veins forming what type of stuff should l have as a first aid kit just incase something goes wrong ? l understand that in case of an emergency that needs immediate vet care , l have my avian vet's number and after hour emergency number in hand , just incase l have to rush to the vet . feeding syringes, olive oil for egg bound hens and a way to get heat to the hen if needed
