Posted January 1, 200718 yr my new budgie is causing some trouble, you have probaly read about him and heard a few things about my budgies in 'Breeders Chat'. but i thought that this story should be posted here. Now i know this is gross (and i dont blame you if you vomit) but my budgie has diarea! but worse is to come, my budgie is begging to try to fly, and for some of you you might reconize this, "Oh no! im NOT going to make it to the bathroom!!" [splosh] followed by "who needs the bathroom any more?" [splat, splosh, pheewie!!] this is discusting and i need it to stop :excl: :excl:
January 1, 200718 yr If your budgie has diarhea then it needs to be seen by an avian vet who can figuire out WHY it has it and how to stop it. You should also have your budgie with diarhea separated from your other two budgies (going by your profile info) to stop them getting it too.
January 1, 200718 yr Actually i need to change that. it is now six. this is my spechial baby budgie, and i dont know of any Avian vets. :blink Would a normal vet be okay?
January 1, 200718 yr Is it true diarrhea, as in there is no formed stool at all (all liquid), or is there more urine in the poop than normal (watery, but with solid matter)? I agree, find an avian vet immediately. A normal vet might not be qualified enough but try anyway. They might be able to refer you to one. Someone here might point you to one as well. Have you fed it something different lately? Are they eating any lettuce? Edited January 1, 200718 yr by Chrysocome
January 1, 200718 yr A bird vet is what you need a regular vet usually does not have the experience in birds.
January 12, 200718 yr Here's a listing of the avian vets in WA - it was on the Vetafarm web site. Other states also listed. If these aren't near you, maybe ring them and ask if they could mentor local vet. Get in early though. Don't wait a day longer!
