Posted December 31, 200618 yr Hi everyone, I'm hoping that someone knows someone else who has baby budgies in the Wollongong or Shellharbour area. 2 weeks ago my daughters got a baby budgie from a friend. It had fallen out of it's nest and had a cracked beak, so we decided to try and nurse it back to health. It was extremely happy and healthy, and after a few visits to the vet to be glued and checked the prognosis was good. Then yesterday he started bleeding for no good reason and died quiet suddenly. My little girls are beside themselves as he was very tame. We've just had a little funeral (he was the replacement for a very old stray we picked up and nursed for 6 months who died a month ago) and the girls are very despondent. Perhaps someone out there knows someone nearby to us who has a very young bird we could adopt. Please let me know if you can help. Thanks a lot. Irene
December 31, 200618 yr Irene I'm so sorry to read about this loss, it sounds like you did everything to give this little one a great life after a bad start. a members name from that area isn't coming to mind, I hope someone can answer you soon.
December 31, 200618 yr Hi Irene, so sorry about your little one. Budgies are very good at hiding illness so they don't get attacked by theor predators, so he may have had an injury that wasn't picked up. I don't know anyone in that area either, but I hope you do find another one for you and your girls to look after and love.
December 31, 200618 yr Ohhh that's so sad!! It sounds like you and your daughters are birdie angels who take care of little ones who need it. Be sure to remind them how the birds really appreciate their care, and while its a very sad thing when one goes, it was a very good thing to have them in your lives. I've had several special needs animals over the years and while it breaks my heart when their time is up, I do get satisfaction for having helped them while I could. Good luck in finding a new little guy!
