December 28, 200618 yr Author here he is relaxing, taking some weight off his foot. god its hard to get him to drink from the syringe. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v677/welshade/DSC01016.jpg Edited December 29, 200618 yr by daz
December 28, 200618 yr He's beautiful!!! I'm so glad he's starting to feel better. Obviously such love and care wasn't lost on him! Â How much liquid do you have to give him? One of my birds was on antibiotics recently and other than initially catching her once she was feeling well enough to put up a fight, it was pretty simple. She just needed a single drop though. Do you hold his head between your fingers? After her head was stabilized, we simply needed to touch the drop to her beak. Perhaps your vet could give you some pointers too.
December 28, 200618 yr Author hes having 0.2 mls twice a day, i cant hold his head tight in fear of hurting him, weve had a few small wolf whistles tonight and hes been ringing his favorite bell a bit so he must be getting better. one thing though is that he hasnt drank much if any water in the last few days Edited December 28, 200618 yr by welshman
December 29, 200618 yr If he doesn't seem to be drinking water maybe offer him some lettuce? That has a high water content. Â I was so scared when i saw this post that you were going to say Jim had died. I remember what a special little budgie he is. Hope he continues to recover.
December 29, 200618 yr Author thanks for your posts, i will try some lettuce tomorrow, dont think i could handle it if i lost jim now, the other morning i really thought it was a matter of hours for him and i got really really upset, there went my hard man image when people heard about that..
December 29, 200618 yr Budgerigars can go for 42 days with out water.. That is why it's best to use a syringe. I hope the lettice works. Â I hope all the best for him Edited December 29, 200618 yr by daz
December 29, 200618 yr So glad that Jim is doing better, you will get the hang of the syringe after a bit.
December 29, 200618 yr The hard man image is just a bunch of bunk anyway. What a sweet man to love his precious bird so much. You are going to be a fantastic father. I am so glad to hear that your buddy is better, and congratulations on your human child as well. Shell
December 29, 200618 yr Oh the poor little fellow. Have you tried puting a low wattage lamp over his cage, with a cover over it to keep the warmth in? He might settle on a towel or something soft then, as he will warm and cosy
December 29, 200618 yr Author he getting better, he is more balanced today, and about half an hour ago he told me he was a good boy this made me feel much better, he is eating seed well and has had water.I am over the moon :budgiedance:
December 29, 200618 yr That's wonderful! He's really coming around for you. 0.2 mL is WAY more than the drop I had to give Baby, so I'm sorry I don't have any more pointers. The only thing is holding their head firmly between two fingers shouldn't hurt them. One on each side of their beak so you're holding their skull squarely.
December 29, 200618 yr :budgiedance: That's wonderful news that Jim is coming around! You must have nearly fainted with the excitement as he came through with a good boy.
December 29, 200618 yr Author hes been talking a lot tonight, loads of wolf whistles etc.....so glad he feeling better, here he is lying on his ramp getting a good scratch from me...i apologise for me looking so rough...and my god im going bald!! http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v677/welshade/DSC01017.jpg Edited December 30, 200618 yr by Rainbow

December 29, 200618 yr I can't wait till my hubby goes completely bald!!! He is getting there in three places but wears his hair in a long ponytail and a baseball cap. If I had my way, I would shave it all off as smooth as a baby's butt and get my kisses all over it!!! Bald is beautiful!! I am so glad your buddy is doing so well. Shell :budgiedance:

December 30, 200618 yr Welshman, I can't tell you how happy that photo made me feel! From your initial post, which really was the sound of a hard grown man's heart tearing apart, or so it seemed, poor little Jim has been constantly on my mind. To see him getting better day by day (thanks for the posts and pics) has been the most wondrous journey for me, so I can imagine, how thankful you have been with the recovery he has had. Â You are an amazing man with a very big heart, for a very little bird. I can only imagine that those qualifications bode very well for the new infact, soon to be included in your circle of love. Â Thankyou for including us in what started as very dark moments in your life. Â Feathers Edited December 30, 200618 yr by feathers
