Yay, I got all mine right :P ... but I didn't do number 6.

Nerwen, can I just ask to see if clearwings actually has clear tails as well? because it looks very much like a spangle tails there. I am just wondering that's alll because I originally thought that it was only a clearwings, but after studying the picture, I thought that it had clear tails and that the wings are much too yellow to be clearwings. but of course thats just my understanding. Just wanted to find out if clearwings had cleartails as well. cheers.

The tail to me looks like the pale gray of the flight feathers.

okay one that I thought was easy might not be

Comparison:

The greywing with the gray tail is what I was remembering when I picked this picture.

I am tending to lean toward what Cheeta said about Spangle too and this is why.

1. The tail looks white to me like a spangle and per the link you provided it says

Note that the Clear Wings has violet cheek patches, dark blue tail feathers and full body colour.

A Spangle with no markings on the wings can be mistaken with a Clear Wing, but the latter differ in cheek patches and tail feathers.

This bird does not have real dark cheek patches or a dark blue tail - so that could throw a wrench in the genetic thoughts right?

Lovey and I were chatting and going back and forth on different pictures and though it may seem petty :P, I just have to wrap my mind around it.

Here are my thoughts... You know how the spangle gene reverses the pattern on the bird's wings making them much more yellow/white, and I thought with the spangle gene coupling with the clearwings, that would give that effect of a green bird with an almost pure yellow wings or a blue/grey bird with an almost pure white wing.

Lovey sent me a link for pics of clearwings while we were chatting away... http://www.budgieplace.com/colors.html (click on dilution), as you can see the wings are still greyish, not almost pure yellow.

So together with the wing pattern/colour, and also the tail looking fairly white/yellow on my monitor for bird number three, I thought that there's a possibility of clearwing combined with spangle gene in the bird.

of course if I'm wrong, I'm more than happy to change and learn all that is to learn.. afterall I'm here to learn and this whole budgie genetics thing can get so very confusing!! (Laughing out loud)

Sorry for not answering here for ages :bluebudgie: I admit I'm not 100% on the Mutation here. I simply found the pictures and believe I had them worked out :dbb1: I can see the point of this being a spangle as well and it seems to match.

Is it okay if I try this? (Laughing out loud)

(Laughing out loud) i didnt get a chance either...i swear i did NOT look at the answers...

This is what i think, in order...

mauve normal female

skyblue recessive pied, yellow face mauve recessive pied

light green clearwing

skyblue or cobalt opaline hen (hard to tell since flash is on)

yellow face blue type II spangle

light green opaline clearwing spangle

How did i do? Now ill look at answers then come see how i did...

Kirby :(

Golden face is used when the bird look almost like a normal green, while yellowface is used when you can see patches of green and blue.
