Hi,

Can i keep 4 budgies in a cage 30 inches long by 16 wide by 20 high?

I have a brother and sister in it now,can i put 2 more males in with them?

I would say yes but no more. You have that you are a breeder so just adding I wouldn't add a nesting box for breeding purposes just for general budgie keeping.

well I can't guarantee that all 4 will get along, I personally have 2 males but I have not had the experience of 1 female and a male. I believe you started a post asking this question and got allot of replies so you can take all that abosrb it and make a decision. There is no guarantee any mix of budgies female, males or mixed will get along .

I don't think that a mix of 3 males and 1 female would be a problem. The problem would come if you had more females than males. The girls tend to be a little...less nice to eachother.

I find males are fine together, but some females can't even sit next to another bird without starting a fight! So if your female is alright with her brother I would say there is a bigger chance of her liking the two other boys.

That sized cage is appropriate for 2, maybe 3 flighted birds maximum.

Yeah that is not big enough for four budgies, sorry to say. Here is a chart that will help, the actual dimensions don't need to be the same but the volume does (multiply length by width by height to find volume).

 

Minimum dimensions of cages:

 

MIN. Size for ONE - 18x18x18"

Volume=5,832" sq.

 

MIN. Size for TWO - 18x18x30"

Volume=9720" sq.

 

MIN. Size for THREE - 18x18x54"

Volume=17,496" sq.

 

MIN. Size for FOUR - 18x18x72"

Volume=23,328" sq.

 

MIN. Size for FIVE - 18x18x90"

Volume=29,160" sq.

 

MIN. Size for SIX - 18x18x108"

Volume=34,992" sq.
