Posted December 18, 200618 yr Well I have a brand new birdie, he is a flightless runner budgie, from scotie one of the forum members. The family the little guy went to live with had to suddenly move to England due to a sick relative. So now I have the little bundle of feathers! I have named him Triton and he is very tame and lots of fun! I havn't managed to get any photos. I would also like to say to those people that Scotie is NOT an irresponsible breeder I know him quite well and he cares alot for his birds, I have been to his house and seen his set up, and it is excellent! Not to mention the fact that all his birds love him! They all sit on his shoulder and whistle in his ear, basicly I just want to say that although his post may have looked dissapointing to some people, the truth is that Scotie is a very responsiable guy and I wanted to put your minds at rest! Also ending this post with some happiness, I also bought a baby budgie which had been kicked out the nest and I am now hand feeding him as he is still so little.I have named him Pegasus I will post some pictures of him tomorrow night. Thanks Carri Edited August 27, 200816 yr by **Liv**
December 18, 200618 yr I hope your little one does well. Triton is a cutie.. can't wait to see pics of the littlest baby
December 19, 200618 yr Author Thanks, I am loving little Triton and Pegasus, I will have the pictures of Pegasus late tonight so I will put them on then. And I was a bit nervous about burbing Pegasus to get the air out his crop but last night I was able to andnow I'm feeling even more confident! Thanks Carri
December 19, 200618 yr Glad you are enjoying your sweet new budgies. And the fact that you know Scotie in person is great, sometimes it is very hard to understand a person based on their writing and one can't see the whole picture, happy all worked out. :hap:
December 19, 200618 yr Author Baby Pegasus is curently siting asleep on my lap, so I'm going to put him back with heat lamp and get Triton out for a play. It's hard having them out at the same time because they run in opposite directions and Triton is very quick! Thanks Carri Edited December 19, 200618 yr by adelaidegirl
December 20, 200618 yr Author Hiya, here are the pictures: Thanks Carri Edited December 20, 200618 yr by adelaidegirl
December 20, 200618 yr Nice pics. But I can't access your other pictures through the links. I think you need to make your album public to do that.
December 20, 200618 yr Author Here they are : Sorry about that Carri Edited December 20, 200618 yr by adelaidegirl
December 20, 200618 yr They are lovely birds! But why is Triton flyless? Is it permanent, or maybe his feathers will grow?
December 20, 200618 yr Author Thanks everyone for your coments The reason Triton is flightless is because he has "pulpits which is a bacterial infection that can not be spread from one bird to another, only 40% of cases re-grow their feathers. Their is no treatment other than veterinary baths but the cases that are cured happen spontainiously." Quote Scotie Thanks again Carri
December 21, 200618 yr My Monty is flightless as well and very uncoordinated so I think he has some congenital anomaly. The avian vet says that there is no reason why he cannot fly but he doesn't even cushion his fall if he happens to fall off the cage. When on the floor, he stumbles about and falls flat on his beak, he has lipomas as well but is an extremely happy budgie, almost the first one to sing when I uncover the cages in the morning.
December 26, 200618 yr Both of those birds are adorable! i also have a young budgie at home who is quite weak at flying and i have to keep him on his own till i believe he is able to fly properly. but back on topic i hope you like your new additions to the family! :glare: :ausb: :budgiedance:
