Posted December 15, 200618 yr Here lies the problem Snowflake has 6 eggs She is in an aviary situation and I wanted to know if I move her and her mate into a breeding cage will she still brood on her eggs.I have other budgies I want to put back into the aviary and was wondering if this would work.I don't want to put the other birds back in as she has already lost a baby to another female that I took out earlier in the year. I am happy to leave her though and the other birds are quite alright in quarratine cages. This way I could also keep an eye on the babies and stop the other females breeding by removing the nest boxes from the aviary. Will be rethinking aviary/breeding cages thing next year and definately making changes from lessons learnt this year. :angel1:
December 15, 200618 yr It's best not to move or disturb an incubating mother while she raises her family. Of course it would all depend on the hen involved, but most of them don't like that kind of inerference and she may stop incubating. The hen likes to have the familiar things around her when she nests and not feel threatened. Moving her may jeopardise that sense of security she has. If the others are fine where they are, it will only be a few more weeks till you can make your changes and all will be happier I am sure. :ausb:
