Posted December 13, 200618 yr Our Little Chico .... OH MAN what can I say !!!! he is EVIL !! but we still love him ... we think he is going through the "terrible two" stage that kids go through , he is short of 3 months old .... he bites our fingers SO HARD and sometimes doesnt let go .... he also has a habit of biting me under my chin and flying on our faces ALL the time .... he even took my nose stud out of my nose the other morning, he was SO QUICK at doing it ... I panicked thinking he would swallow it and he finally dropped it .... I am not sure if we have just spoiled him , like I said we love him to bits but he is really a hand full at the moment is he going to grow out of this ...??? WE HOPE SO !!! My partner feels like he is going be carved up by Chico if he doesnt stop his behaviour .... One thing he does thats SO cute is when I laugh , he flies onto my chest and watches my mouth, and I move my head from side to side and he follows my mouth, not sure if he likes the sound of my laugh or what but thats too cute .... if only he could be angelic like that all the time !! December 13, 200618 yr Yes he is hitting a stage and I am sure he is starting to go through his first molt. I know it is hard but ignore the bitting and the bad behavior and give him attention only during the good behavior. I know others will give you some great ideas to help with this behavior.
December 13, 200618 yr Oh god i hate that phase, and since both of mine are about to hit 3 months. Think of the masacare (Laughing out loud). Bluey is starting to step up on finger alot more often, but hard to get to train tweety as Bluey refuses me to attempt to train her.
December 14, 200618 yr I go through that alot with Bunny, and sometimes the little brat hurts.. he and Dallas were the most outgoing babies of my group.. and they are also the bitiest - i just put up with it and don't let Bunny near my neck but it may help if you can get him interested in some chew toys in his cage.. or have a lattice ball or something to distract him with when he is on you.
December 14, 200618 yr Here is some good information from our FAQ section http://forums.budgiebreeders.asn.au/faqs/i...d=50&artlang=en
December 14, 200618 yr Well my 2 haven't started biting yet, but i know not to react. Just made great progress with Bluey. He had stepped out on my finger, without me encouraging him and without millet.
December 14, 200618 yr Author Hey Lovey you said in your post he may be starting to molt too .... I noticed a LOT more feathers around his cage and the house ... and My Partner showed me his two large tail feathers had fallen out too !! is this normal for him to lose those ....??? My Harley lost his two large ones as well but thats when he had cancer .. I would hate to think little chico was sick I actually had to trim a tiny bit off the end of his tail cause the little bugger flew into one of my Xmas baubles I was personalising with Hobby text stuff ... so I didnt want him to preen himself and poison himself so I found the little spot where his tail flew into it, and it was the tiniest trim ... my Partner keeps ribbing me saying THATS why his tail feathers fell off cause I trimmed them !! but I know that cant be the case, I explained that feathers grow back, look at peeps who clip their birdies wings .... but anyways ... so its all part and parcel of their behaviour at this age I take it .... how long does this phase take ...?? December 14, 200618 yr  :(Laughing out loud): :(Laughing out loud): Oh dear, I can just see Chico trying to eat you for breakfast. I've no idea how long it will take (can't remember) but I know it feels like forever. Good luck with him. Maybe that was the problem with Lucky. Cindy

December 14, 200618 yr Yes that is very common, Merlin is going through a molt leaving feathers everywhere and loosing the tail feathers is common. My daughter likes to collect them (Laughing out loud). If you click FAQ's up on top of the site you will see even more information, I am working on adding and another member is helping me too
