Posted December 11, 200618 yr The second clutch is feathering up well- have had a few suprises this clutch with a blue pied appearing. Last clutch I found out the male was split opaline, this time that they're split blue!! One blue opaline dom pied hen Light green opaline Dom pied hen Green normal cock (little fatty!- he is a big boy though!!) and a yellow.....?? has small green rump and slight bit of green on tummy- badly marked pied or double factor? mother does have a small headspot.
December 11, 200618 yr What beautiful babies, they look really healthy. It's always nice to have suprises!!!
December 11, 200618 yr It looks like they will all grow into stunners... especially the blue pied and light green pied
December 11, 200618 yr They are all beautiful but my favouite is the blue opaline pied. Well done they all look very healthy.
December 11, 200618 yr If the mom does have a head spot I would go with that she is a pied and the baby looks like it could be a double factor.
January 6, 200718 yr I think your little yellow is a Resseive Pied...Green Resseive Pied but that means both parents are split to Resseive Pied as well.
February 4, 200718 yr Author Wow have been away for the last month so couldn't reply, unfortunately the blue baby died just before I left for what reason I'm not sure? And the yellow Double factor pied while I was away didn't survive the heat so I didn't have much luck with this clutch. But the big green fella is in Perth with my mum at the moment causing her much grief when its 'back in the cage time' and the pied opaline hen is here with me. She didn't get the size of the first clutch (I kept a green male and opaline female from that one) This is the male from the first clutch (Sep/Oct06) and the hen She seems to have fallen for a young male I have here - he is a similar age (06) a case of similars attract- not opposites! Also when I emptied the aviaries of nestboxes at the end of last year I had one screwed to the wall- a case of I'll need a screwdriver to get that off so I'll do it next time- I didn't get around to doing it before I went away so this albino and rec pied male made good use of it while they had the chance.
February 4, 200718 yr Your birds are all beautiful I am sorry you lost your blue dominant pied :ausb: Try and call in next time you are in Perth.... Cheers karen
February 6, 200718 yr Thanks for the update. I love your second hen ( the one from the first clutch) are you thinking of pairing her with her fellow? They both look a great size.
February 7, 200718 yr Author Yeah I will probaly put them together if their still a happy couple later on. I'm on the lookout to buy some good birds at the moment now I'm finally understanding what I need to get!!
