Posted December 8, 200618 yr okay I have to ask, I would love to know more about what colour is called what and why? because I am reading alot of posts about colours what there called and I'm just left baffled :grbud: also because I eventually plan on getting more budgies or breeding and I would like to know more about this type of thing. so if anyone could direct me to some great info on what's called what and why, or even just help me here I would really really appreciate it :ausb:
December 8, 200618 yr There are several topics on the forum in the genetics section (i think) where members have posted pictures of their budgies different colourations eg it will be called "members spangle budgies" and so on. I found it really helpful to look at the bird with that mutation and then compare them to other budgies. I hope that helps i'm at work heheh not meant to be visiting but while the cats away the budgie addict will play!!!
December 8, 200618 yr So to the show breeding area Daz has posted some excellent posts about the different mutations. Also here is a site I refer to often http://www.budgieplace.com/colors.html
December 8, 200618 yr Jules, I also refer to the one that lovey mentioned. I also found Nerwen's page on genetics very easy to understand. http://geocities.com/nerwenfuzz_82/ Edited December 8, 200618 yr by feathers
December 9, 200618 yr Author Thanks soooo much everyone, I will have a look at those sites , I just really want to work out why a spangle is called a spangle and so on, because 2 of my budgies are very similar looking one is more grey than it is blue and the other is more blue, but other than that they are very similar but I am sure they are called completely different things. I'm a bit like a sponge at the moment hahahaha trying to absorb as much info as possible
December 9, 200618 yr When you read through the link I posted it tells you why. Do realize that there are different degrees of say skyblue so 1 sky blue could be lighter and another a little darker but not enough to be considered a cobalt.
