I was given this little boy yesterday from a friend as I have experience with beak problems and I gave my word I'd look after him. I don't mind, I've adopted a few 'special birds' in my time.

My mum named him Blue Boy after a Jim Reeves song. He really is a lovely little fellow and very friendly too.

This is the picture I took when I got him home:

After a couple of hours' rest time I gave him a light trim & took about 4mm off, he was rather good:

Oh so cute! I am sure he will be very happy with you.

Blue boy is a very hansome looking budgie!!, how does he go eating?

He is a gorgeous budgie Karen, he looks great after the beak tream.

aww, look at the boy. glad to hear that he's with a good mommy now. :D

Any idea why the beak grows so quickly and so long as well?

When he was in the nest, him and his siblings got poop stuck to their beaks, the lady was cleaning them up & when cleaning Blue Boy his whole beak broke off. It grew back but abnormal.

Poor thing! Glad he's with you and lucky him for growing some beak back. I think he's adorable. :)

:) Glad you are taking care of him Karen and he is okay. My first rescue, Freddy (who was terribly neglected and abused and was just a joy to have as he broke out of his shell, tearing up as I type this), was fine for the first year or so I had him and then started having an abnormally growing beak, we were about to do tests after Freddy had been brought in the third time, my vet suspected an endocrine disorder. Fred died while his beak was being trimmed for the last time. Glad you know the reason for this strange beak. Freddy's beak was a normal budgie beak but it was very long. :angel1:

What a very handsome budgie blue boy is.He actually lokks happier after the beak trim.

very cute!

Wow, poor little darling.

I didn't think that if a whole beak broke off that they'd grow back.

Well either way, he's lucky to be with you. :(

He is lucky to be given another chance at a normal life with you. Cute little budgie he is!!!
