A Good Example

:D I just realized that my birds are being a good example for me. I am sitting here munching on romain and ranch dressing. If I hadn't been giving my little darlings their lunch I wouldn't have thought of eating romain for my own! :)

haha, yeah I'm like that too.. :) I now stock up on a whole lot of vegs that I didn't before all because of my birds. :D They are great like that too. :D

Is there no end to the benefits of keeping birds? :feedbirds: :)

I eat a bit healthier since getting birds too, funny how that works. :D

The list of good things ends when you get to the cleaning part. :D At least, for me it is.

I mean, they make such huge messes and then you can't even use regular good ol' commercial cleaners to get rid of them. "Yes I pooped on your floor, now get out the vinegar and water and get to scrubbing!!"

I guess in a way it's still better for us though. Just not as convenient. :)

:) I HATE vegetables and fruit! Was at a meeting of an international weight loss group last year and it was suggested that maybe I make time to cut up vegetables and fruit in advance to assist in my diet efforts. I pointed out that I always have fresh produce in my house and go out of my way to get it and prepare it for my pet BIRDS almost every day. Then the looks started again...................... :)

I always feel so good shopping for the birds' food. Makes me look like a super health nut (when you look past my fat, that is :)). And theeen I go shopping for me and that's another story. I'm better now that I have the birds but...could stand for improvement. :)

Phoebe you always make me smile :)

Terri I know what you mean (Laughing out loud)

:) I always go that extra mile for my birds but as far as me it ends with the chain food guys that supersize, sure, why not? :) But I have starting picking up Subway for my Mother and me at times (she loves them much to my surprise). I know that this franchise is in the US but don't know about the rest of the world. :) I LOVE salad but I love the dressings better. :)

Yum Subway they have them in some of our Wal-Marts now

Subway is my FAVOURITE!!! Mmmmm.....

I LOOOOVE Subway - there is one next door to my work and I have it at least 3 times a week :) Had it for dinner last night too hehe

My mum and her sister have a bit of a co-op running and they buy fruit and vegies from a growers market very early on a Saturday morning. Then they divide everything up for the families who are in on it. They deliver mine to me every saturday afternoon.

It was so funny last week, because mum came in with these sprouts and said "I don't know if these will be any good". To which I replied, "Thats okay, my birds will love them". "Thats who I got them for" she said.

She says she now walks around with them in mind and whenever she comes across something my birds will like she includes it with their co-op shopping! :)

I guess I am fortunate... in a way. I grew up "country poor". Which means that most of what we ate came from our garden or neighboring orchards. My family spent a lot of time canning and freezing produce, and picking fruit and vegies. My mom made all her own bread and jams and jelly. so I grew up eating healthy!!

I raised my kids that way because it was all I knew!! Now they are all very aware of good nutrition and feed thier own kids very well!! Sometimes poor can be very rich!
