Posted November 30, 200618 yr A budgie bobs his head up and down periodically , our little chico has started to do this, only the last day or so ... I thought it may be him trying to regurgitate, but I dont think this is the case .... also he has a habit now of flying onto our faces, is this like a dominating kind of thing he is doing ...??? any answers will help !
November 30, 200618 yr your budgie is bobbing his head most likey because he is 'IN' love with you. you are his 'mate so to speak and is simply trying to kiss you and also he may start to regurgitate food onto you to try and feed you. budgies will often bob their head near the cage wire or infront of a mirror because they feel it is their mate. as for flying into your head, he is probabley trying to fly to the top of your head but may lose height on the way to land. i dont know the budgie but he may be a bit overweight because over weight budgies generally fly on a downwards angle. if he isn't overweight and is flying onto your face then it could be a dominating thing but most likely not, it is most likely because he wants to be near your face as you are his mate and he will want to feed, kiss and possibly mate on you hope this helps Sco-tie :ygbudgie:

December 1, 200618 yr Author hey thanks for the feedback, I had a feeling it may have been a courting kind of gesture , he does do it on his cage as well, so funny u mentioned that ... he has started fluffing his little butt on us as well ... but how are they meant to know... and another thing is with him is he will fly on my or my guys hand and bite the BEJEEZUS out of our fingers...and yet when he flies on our face and pecks around our eye area he is SO gentle .... smart little bugger he is .... Oh another strange thing he did last night was hook his feet up into his ball thingy with the bell on the end of it and the cage, like he was doing some sort of Gymnastics splits kind of thing, and he was like that for ages ... anyways, I thought he was stuck , and when I went to see if he was okay and tried to move him, he got the poops with me !! (Laughing out loud) like a really annoyed little screech thing... he looked SO uncomfortable but he seemed okay after he got down from it ..... Edited December 1, 200618 yr by MissHarley
December 7, 200618 yr Author We just came back from a 4 day trip to the beach in which Chico came with us ... he enjoyed watching the huge crows and magpies on the verandah while in his cage inside ... he also came to the beach with us and sat at a picnic table in his cage while we fed seagulls and LOVED that too .... I figured that if peeps can walk their dogs on the beach, why cant we have our little chico with us !! anyway while we were away he picked up this new cute little sound he often does now ... he never ceases to amaze us :hap: :budgiedance:
December 7, 200618 yr I took my Bobby camping at easter time and he had a blast as well - it is good that they can enjoy the great outdoors from the safety of their cage :budgiedance: As for the gymnastics thing, budgies are quite flexible and that is how they play - I guess it is comfy for them hehe I tried to rescue Bobby from the same position the other day thinking he was stuck and was attacked for my efforts!
