Hey Guys,

Havn't been around for a bit. I am soooo devestatated I lost all of my first clutch plus the father. They were in their cage on the Veranda for some outside air. Went to the loo and came back to find my two year old scaled up the screen door with the cage door open and only mum remaining. I cann't believe it, five beautiful birds gone in one foul swoop. I have put mum back into the avairy and left the cage open next to the avairy, in hope that the sound of the other budgies would bring them back! But no luck so far. Fingers crossed.

I am so sorry to hear that. I hope they do come back.

I am so sorry Kelly. I know the heartwrenching feeling that you have. Big hugs and hoping for at least a return. Have you posted any ads re the missing birds ? A local letterbox drop may help as young budgies often stay close by. One of my baby budgies got out as a four week old and flew away....it came back at dusk and we caught her. I still have her. :angel1:

That is encouraging maybe there is still hope. I have been to the local pet shop and vet incase anyone finds one and reports it. I think I might also put an add in the local paper just incase!

Try also for a little note in the letterboxes up and down your street and the immediate few blocks around your house. They could be closer than you think.

oh my gosh I am so sorry

Thanks for all your support guys. Some of you asked me to keep you updated. It is nearly two weeks now and nothing so hope is fading fast. I put an add in the local paper, contacted the vets, the pet shop and even the wildlife carer in town. I even did a door knock in the immediate area. But I wanted to thank you all for your ideas and well wishes it means alot.

I know exactly how you feel. I lost all my birds except for one a few months ago. (about 20 of them) We had gone away for the weekend and when I got home the cage door had been opened and they were all gone. I couldnt believe what I was seeing (or not seeing). I just stood there dumbfounded. But you just have to pick yourself up and start all over again as hard as it is. It took me a while to even consider getting more budgies but over the time I have found another 4 pairs that have really nice colours. They are only young so they wont be breeding till next year. One of my birds came back a few days after the event and he let me catch him, and they now have 5 babies. So there was some good come out of my tragedy

I am so glad you got one of yours back. I still have the majority of my stock so I am lucky. I do however have a birthday coming up and have been hinting strongly to my husband that maybe a few replacement budgies would be in order! we will see. Thanks for your support.
