Excessive Drinking?

Featured Replies

Hoping someone can help me solve this. I changed Rocket's water this evening to find that it was nearly empty - I had filled it halfway. So I was looking around the floor where the water bottle is and saw no water where it could have leaked or anything, however, on the opposite side of her cage there are several pools of water - there's no way the water could have got there from the other side of the cage - so has she been excessively drinking causing excessive urination? And if so what causes this?

No change in her droppings and she's not fluffed up or anything, the only thing we have noticed is that she is a bit less active than usual, she still comes out for a fly but not for half as long as usual. Rocket is 10 years old by the way.

So any ideas here? Any views would be much appreciated.

if she was excessively urinating I would say it would look like very water dropping

I would put the water up and observe her and see what is going on to make sure she is not excessively drinking or the bottle is not leaking.

If she is I would take her to a registered bird vet because that can be a number of things but the one that pops in my head the quickest is kidney issues.

Keep us updated.

thank you for the reply Lovey, I will make sure I keep an eye so I can work out what on earth is going on and let you know when I find out!
