Cocci Preventative

I found this information on another Forum.

Many fanciers use an anti-coccidiosis treatment such as sulpha avs or a preventative such as carlox, to hold off outbreaks of cocci or enteritis.

I worry about the use or overuse of such dangerous anti-biotics as sulphur drugs etc.

An old remedy is raspberry cordial added to the drinking water.

You may remember an article I submitted for our mag last year. Apparently it is an old remedy for pig, cow and poultry breeders.

I started using it for a while but I think my mix was a bit too strong and it attracted ants to the flights.

I am going to trial it again over summer with a light brew of 20ml to the litre. Remember the cordial has to be Anchor 10% pure raspberry or better still 20%.

It can also be bought in powder satchets, but I still have to find a supplier.

Has anyone had experience with this? I personally use COCCIVET twice a year. We find that Coccidiosis is rampid in high humidity. Found in areas near the tropics.

Additional Information on Raspberry Cordial.
