The new aviary modifications are under way. Ken (the magnificent) is slaving away even with his stuffed knees....

The new area being worked on it being made ready for a concrete slab floor.....and maybe tiled with terracotta tiles. An area about 10 feet by 12 feet. It will be the bird room or "breeder room" for breeder cabinets, mostly for the show budgies. There will also be two more flight areas. One smaller holding flight just inside the door (full height by 1 metre by 2 and a half metres) and the flight from the door to the new birdroom. Another flight area as you walk in measuring around 3 metres by 3 metres.

Ken get to do the "man jobs" and I get to do the roofing and fit out. The existing bird room becomes the food prep area, hospital area and food storage area. It get a leadlight window put in between the inside side wall and the smaller flight area (double glazed for safety).

As always your babies are perfectly beautiful.

I love the first YF skyblue baby and I'm still totally in love with honey and luigi's bub. My new baby that I got today looks just like atlas, except that mine has a little more wings markings than Atlas.

 

Before I get serious with aviaries I really am going to have to check your's out, Kaz. But that won't be for quite a while yet.

Honey/Luigi's baby looks just like dad but green what a doll. They have the sweetest faces when they are babies.

You could be right there Lovey about rec pied maybe ? As dad is rec pied. Dont know where the spangle comes into it though. YES...breeder cage. And Ciara has produced many a visual violet before too. Cheeta is coming over tomorrow. She can work it out then

 

PS Cheeta things Ciara might have got bonked in the aviary before she went into the breeder cage with Romeo.

Yes. Her favourite boy was Tiki a YF2 spangle

well I do believe we may have found the answer out . I would ask Daz or those who do close breeding (show breed) how long they wait to ensure their hen is not prego with someone else's eggs before they start to close breed with another male.

Won't be happening soon. When Ken finishes the new aviary section and divides up the balance...we will have separate males area and separate females area.

 

PS didnt somone on here say they can keep sperm for a year ?!

well looking at Romeo he has one wing feather that looks spangle plus the patchy white and blue cheek marks of a spangle.

I sooo want your Dom Pied violet spangle. He is a replica of one of my lost babies. Pity your so far away or I would be coming for a visit! All your babies look beautiful I woud have a hard time picking between them. Keep up the good work.
