Posted October 21, 200420 yr If for some reason you can not take your sick Budgie/Bird to a Vet , be it financial , not able to drive , age , distance ect. , one may have a little book on "how to " re Budgie/Bird , but getting on line to other Budgie/Bird owners and sharing their knowledge on how they treat and the causes of the sickness?? of their Budgie/Bird can be very helpful and even reassuring , perhaps a small list of "easy" problems could be on permanent display . I have worried all night waiting for a reply when one came it suggested to "go to a Vet" . I have given my little Baby Joe another dose of "Sulpha Remedy" he's had 4 so far , he is still a bit fluffed up but has eaten some seed and a tiny bit of green grass seed which he actually rushed for , I had stopped feeding him the greens as I thought that it could have caused the oringinal problem plus the fact that our weather has been so extreem .any advise gratefully received ..(Laughing out loud)(Little Old Lady)
January 4, 200520 yr I'm sorry I can't help you much. My budgie, Snowy, is ill at the moment. She's got watery poos. She's been to the vet, and the vet says it's probably fungal toxins and maybe stress from moulting. So she's on antibiotics and stuff. Thing is, just when I thought she was getting better, she's started weeing. And, as you know, budgies only really do dry poos cos that's how they conserve water. Antibiotics go for another four days from now. I'm worried she'll die! I don't think I'll be able to take her to the vet due to financial reasons....and I don't wanna see her go! (Cos I love her....she's been with me for five years) I have a budgie book, it's okay but not that helpful. Yes, I agree, Baby Joe, the reply that is given often: "go to the vet" is neither helpful or comforting. Um, how's your budgie at the moment By The Way, I've only just realised that your message was from Oct 2004. Can anyone give me advice on Snowy? Thanks, Ant.
January 4, 200520 yr Antt, I answered your concern on another thread, but I have a question about this one. When you say your bird is on antibiotics and stuff...exactly what is the other "stuff"? If it is a steroid, that will make your bird more thirsty and she will probably be excreting more urine than normal. If it's not a steroid, is it possible she is just drinking more for whatever reason? Sometimes my birds will excrete only urine after they eat a lot of watery vegetables, or after bathing, as they drink the water from the lettuce they bathe in. And budgies should excrete urine as part of a normal "poo" anyway, it just isn't much.

Ive noticed that you keep posting the same thing over and over. This is creating work and wasting space on the forums. This is how forums work, you post, wait, wait more, then you may get an answer. By posting the same thing in different theads and topics, you are just confusing members and making staff mad, as they have to do more work editing and merging posts and topics arround the forums. So, in the future, please post once and wait untill you get a reply as if there is no members on at the time you post, your question isnt going to get answered any faster if you post it 10 times in another section.
January 27, 200520 yr I have been told if you have a sick budgie or it is looking a little under the weather you put a little bit of Diet Red Cordial in there drinking water and it makes them as good as new, A breeder told me this.......It has worked for me before.
