My green pied male and green pied hen are feeding each other. Does this mean they will eventually breed?

I know some birds feed each other but never go further than that!!

From what I have gathered here and observed in my little flock, birds who are "just friends" feed eachother too. Somtimes they are bonding in a way the doesn't have anything to do with breeding. But if you want them to breed, it is certainly a good sign. They probably wont breed without a nestbox. But please don't do that until you have researched it thoroughly and know what to prepare for and to expect. If there is one thing I have learned here, it is that I have a lot to learn!

Spend time going over the many posts to decide if you even want to attempt budgie breeding. It is not a matter of putting in a box and giving extra vegies etc.

If you don't want extra birds you'll have to find home for them. There is so much to learn.

It will take some time for the birds to get used to the nest box. i pput a nest box in last year during breeding season and all the eggs my hen laid were infertile. this year in the first clutch she laid one hatched. :ausb:

 

the budgies wont breed until they are about 18 months old.

 

my budgies are feeding each other at the moment and this is a good sign that they are getting friendly!

Budgies if given a nesting box (may and can) breed by the time they are 4 months, it is best not to give them a nesting box until they are of a breeding age. Most breeders like to start around 15-18 months of age.
