Posted November 14, 200618 yr I am new to this site and to breeding budgies.I was wondering if anyone could help me with what offspring to expect from this pair.I have named them "aussie and snowflake".I do realise that snowflake is an albino but I am not sure of Aussie's parents colouring and what to class him as. I got the budgies and aviary for my daughter but find myself in aviary every morning and night, its relaxing and I could witch their antics forever and a day.Snowflake had a baby that died after 4 days, this baby had red looking eyes but I am not sure wether Aussie was the father. If he was does this mean he is split lutino.
November 14, 200618 yr If the male is not split for ino you will have 100% normals Your male will be split for ino your females will not because it is not genetically possible. Answering your question if he was the father yes that means he is split for ino. If the male is split for ino you will have 50 % chance of male or female inos and 50% female and male normals. The wing pattern I can't see in the back? Do you have a better picture? Someone with more experience may have a better eye but I need a better picture . Also the coloring of Aussie he looks like he is a blue bird with a YellowFace 2 gene but then in a way he looks like he is a green can you clarify thanks if he is a blue bird then all your babies will be blue if he is a green bird then all your babies will be green unless he is split for blue You will have yellowface babies if he is a yellowface I think I covered everything and if I didn't or if anything is wrong I know I will be corrected
November 15, 200618 yr I agree with daz it's hard when the tail is different from the other gene and not showing either olive ( which could mean an olive bird) or black ( which could mean grey-green) At first I was thinking grey-wing but looking at the tail (all yellow) and the cheek patchs (mix of white and blue) spangle matches. I think he is a grey-green, simply becuase his body colour looks the same as other grey-greens around ( and like my Kree)
November 15, 200618 yr Author Thank you so much for all your replies.I had a closer look at Aussie and found that he does have patches of blue on him.I had never noticed this before.I have included a picture of his back to help.It will be interesting to see what the babies will be like. Will keep you all informed.
November 15, 200618 yr what color is the barring on his wings? in the first picture the top of his head looks green which makes me think opaline
November 15, 200618 yr Yes Dingo he is an Opaline as well, the wing markings look green to me. All his daughters will be opaline.
