Breeding Two Dominant Pied Birds!

Featured Replies

What would you get if you bred a two dominat pied green budgies? I have a pied green hen and a pied green male. The hen is starting to visit the nest box.

Thanks,

Eric

All the babies would be green unless both parents are carrying the blue gene since it since it is recessive.

If you have 2 single factor pieds you will get

75% Dominant Pied

25% Normal

If you have single factor dominant pied budgie and a double factor dominant pied budgie

100% pieds

Actually, you will get 50% single factor pieds, 25% double factor pieds, and 25% normals (no pied genes at all). Any hidden genes can manifest on any one of the birds.

I didn't split the single into double sorry about that :(

No problem! Actually, it was me...I didn't get what you wrote. It just went right over me. You were correct, I was just out there somewhere when I read that. :P
