So have you any ideas as to why? He is about 3 1/2 week old

He has climbed his little ladder and perches on it for about 1 hour, he preened himself this afternoon, only twitters when he hears the older ones, does not cry out to be fed, otherwise he is sitting like these pics all day. Oh, he does have a little fly when out of the cage, low to the ground with plenty of packing under him in case we dont catch him

well the last picture of him on your hand looks normal, the others seem a bit 'lazy' the side he is leaning any sign of missing feathers? is the tail bent to one side?

There are no feathers missing, and all look perfectly formed. But he is always leaning to one side.

His tail feathers are straight when he is perching or trying to walk, but when he is laying down in his nesting box his tail is almost at right angles with his body on his left hand side. Normal position when outside in the cage

When he is laying he looks like he won't last, but when he is upright (not very often) and when your feeding or cuddling him he looks very bright eyed, although he does not move around much

He will stay where you put him for hours.

It is a worry.

I'm interested in this one as we have a cock about the same age and does a similar thing. I have noticed that the other chiks (younger) all drape themselves over his kneck therefore he is pushed into this postion. We've been leting him rest his head on some scrunched up papper towel and it seems to be helping. -Carmy :hap:

Yes Ridley, I keep something under his neck too. His sibling even lets him rest his head on his back, which I think is cute.

how is Floppy doing today?

He is doing really well, Lovey.

He is now cracking seed, and is sitting up, perching, walking a lot better but often still lays down on his chest. It looks like he is asleep over his seed dish, which is a small lid on the floor and one on top of the nesting box, which I have still left in the cage as they both go in there for a sleepy. He has small flys around the room (not for far) still not real good on landing but he is still very young, so we make sure we can catch him on our hands, so he does not hit the floor or anything hard.

He is a very pretty fellow, I am unsure is he has a very pale grey tummy, or extremely pale blue and his cheek patches are indistinct.

I phoned the owner today to say they can take them home as they are doing okay now.

I'll try to get some more pics today.

Thanks for asking after them

Cindy
