I am posting this because recently, while I was letting my budgie walk around on my legs while I layed down, I noticed that some of the feathers on her head are missing. This worrys me because I only have one budgie...petstore bought and I heard that they are never as healthy as breeders budgies. I think that it could possibly be that she's just molting but I don't know how old she is...

I can't post a picture because I don't have a digital camera, but if you can get anything from the description then please tell what what's wrong with my bird

pet stores vs breeders another debate (Laughing out loud) but I don't think the clique is true that one is better then the other. Each store and each breeder needs to be judged individually there are great stores and horrible breeders and vice versa...any ways

 

Are you sure your budgie is not going through their first molt where. Does he have feathers that have black ends to them poking on the head?

Very true, there are great stores, great breeders, horrible stores, and horrible breeders. As lovey said, you have to judge on an individual basis as in the end, it's up to the person breeding the birds no matter what. Most stores get their birds from a breeder but it's not always a good one.

 

How many feathers are missing from the budgie's head? Where is the baldness and about how large is the area that is missing feathers?

The baldness in near the back of the head and it appears that there are only a couple feathers missing. And I do see some little feathes with black heads poking out. Thanks for the replies, I don't have to be so worried now :budgiedance:

sounds like he is just molting it happens 2x a year sometimes more depending on the weather in your area.
