November 15, 200618 yr I was kind of thinking that because of the salt content and such...and was also thinking is that crop too full. I am not expert though
November 15, 200618 yr Oh my gosh! He looks STUFFEED!!! Is it okay for them to get THAT full? I've never seen that before! Thanks for the tips, I will go get some wholewheat bread tomorrow and give it a try. ) Thanks again. Dave Oh my gosh! He looks STUFFEED!!! Is it okay for them to get THAT full? I've never seen that before! Thanks for the tips, I will go get some wholewheat bread tomorrow and give it a try. ) Thanks again. Dave Dave, Multigrain bread would be better than wholemeal if you can get it. Try sprinkling some millet seeds on top. and perhaps he might start nibbling a bit of lettuce or other greens. Irene
November 16, 200618 yr He/she is one month old today, and still very healthy. Thanks for the tips, I will probably try some millett today, hopefully that will help the transition! Thank you all for your help! Niko is fast asleep now, and stuffed after a full meal. :feedbirds: Dave
November 16, 200618 yr That's great Dave! Better that you stay with the natural seeds and offer bread/toast as a treat from time to time. Although, a bit of real egg mixture wouldn't hurt at this stage of development.
November 18, 200618 yr Bead soaked with water or weak milk can be used a stand by if need be or a treat tot he parents and bubs but shouldn't be used as a complete diet. As to being that stuffed, there can be troubles with sour crop arising where the food stays in the crop for too long and then the digestion slows down and can completely stop. If this happens the crop needs to be flushed out by a vet before any more feeding is to happen.
November 18, 200618 yr Good to hear the little one is doing well If you have time we would love to see more pics.
November 22, 200618 yr Niko is doing well, and is sitting on my shoulder as I write this. He's just started to wean (thank goodness!), and has been eating well on his own these past two days. I'll post some more pictures of him soon. Dave :feedbirds:
November 25, 200618 yr Looks like he's going to do just fine. He's weaned now 100%, and loving living at the house, instead of the aviary at the theatre. It rains too much there anyway. (Obviously) He helped us decorate. Any ideas if he's a he or a she? Probably hard to tell from this picture, but I'll post a new one in a day or two. Dave
November 25, 200618 yr okay, so these aren't exactly the best pictures for being able to tell the sex, but they're cute pictures anyway. This one is but it's a shot I just took here in Saipan... It's kind of cute too... Dave http://www.myspace.com/davewomach

November 29, 200618 yr Just a random update... thought you'd like to see this little video. None of my other budgies have ever liked to be scratched on the head... of course, now that I say that I noticed the little icon of the bugie dreaming about a head scratch... but the experience is still new to me, and we've had budgies since I got out of diapers... so it's been at least two years now.
