My budgie (about 5 yrs old) has developed a large swelling on her chest (crop area) over the last 2 days.

She is not looking horribly sick, just a bit fluffed up but still eating, drinking etc..

I can get her to the Vet on Friday (when I can pay for it :( ) but I was wondering if anyone has any idea what it may be?

I have a suspicion the outcome may not be good.

:ausb: Could be a lipoma (benign tumor and Happy and MOnty both have them),as she is eating and drinking okay you can calm down for now and wait until you have a vet appointment. Good luck to you. :(

Thanks Pheobe.

I feel awful not getting her to the Vet straight away. Our Vet insists you pay on the day and I have meds to buy for my daughter, which have to take priority.

Can you advise a bit more about Lipoma......is it a fatty benign growth (as in dogs)?

Diet related perhaps?

She is a picky eater and won't eat much apart from seed, despite me trying her with carrot, different greens etc (not lettuce).
