Jealous Female!

Hello,

I have a situation going on with my birds. I recently adopted a green hen from another teacher at my school. I placed her in the flight cage with my other pair, a male and another hen. Well, this new hen is certainly making it known that she wants to be boss. Every time the bonded pair want to feed each other, preen, tap beaks etc., this little green hen does her best to get in between. THere is no major fighting going on, but I'm not sure if I should take her out or not. I'm afraid that when it comes time for my pair to investigate the nest box, things will get worse. Any advice from some experts!

Thanks,

Eric

I always remove the troublesome ones when they interfere with a bonded couple. Perhaps a separate cage for the newbie and maybe a friend for the newbie too.

I too would remove the troublesome female. You don't want to risk a situation like I had a few months ago - the jealous female went into the others nest and broke all the eggs!

that could be a solution but know she could bully him around too and it may not work. You have 4 birds 2 are bonded and the other 2 are females?

If you just put them together they would be fine because there is no competition for the male.
