April 6, 200817 yr Daz In the above photo can you tell me what you used to join your lengths of mesh? I can see small black items along the wire. Also how did you fix the mesh to the aluminium? Are the self tapping screws? Thanks
April 6, 200817 yr Author Daz In the above photo can you tell me what you used to join your lengths of mesh? I can see small black items along the wire. Also how did you fix the mesh to the aluminium? Are the self tapping screws? Thanks Derek, Bunnings have the joiners and the aluminum extrusion. The joiners come in two way, three way, four way all the way to a six way. I also used them as supports for the Breeding cages and front door. Very versatile. I have a friend designing breeding cage banks out of them. I am looking forward to seeing that. The mesh is attached by self drilling button head screws. Edited April 6, 200817 yr by Daz
April 6, 200817 yr I have bought some and made my divider out of them. Not cheap. What though have you joined your mesh with. Looks like cable ties.
April 6, 200817 yr Author Yes being a sparky the cable ties came in handy. The birds don't seem to chew on them, well not much anyway.
April 6, 200817 yr Author Well I have accidentally left the flight door open. Came in to find them flying in the breeding room. No Problem just got them back in their flights.
June 18, 200816 yr Author I have added an extra timer to the light over the bench. It now comes on automatically 5 minutes before the main lights go off and then 20 minutes after that. This gives a staged decrease in lighting before the night light takes over.
June 23, 200816 yr Where have you stashed the 100+ budgies Daz? None in the flights, and a few pairs in the breeding boxes. As nice as they look! You need to fill those new cages and start breeding! the clock is ticking And with the change in ring issue 2009 is it or 2010? I wasn't listening. It' going to mean even an earlier start to the season. Breeding through summer : hate it! Edited June 23, 200816 yr by throwback
December 5, 200816 yr Author Well the birds did like it, to the point that I had the best breeding year yet. I have added another light sensor that operates an outside Bug Zapper and inside light. I have also added another timer to control the light above the bench. The Bench light comes on at 5:45pm and goes off at 7:30pm. The Main Lights come on at 7:00am and off at 7:00pm. The new light and Bug Zapper comes on at dusk and runs for 2 hours. At this time of year that is approx 6:30pm to 8:30pm. The night light comes on at Dusk, approx 6:30pm and off at dawn. What this does is to give four light levels at night for the birds to go to sleep with. I was told that the ultraviolet light used in bug zappers causes infertility in the birds. I don't know if this is right or wrong but didn't want to find out so the zapper is in a position that the birds can't see it. Photos to come.
December 5, 200816 yr Looking forward to it Daz. Glad I printed this out before you deleted some of the photos from photobucket what was the ring issue??
December 5, 200816 yr I could use a handy man like you in my birdroom Daz....fancy a holiday PS I used a bugzapper in my old birdroom and had NO FERILITY ISSUES
December 5, 200816 yr Author Looking forward to it Daz. Glad I printed this out before you deleted some of the photos from photobucket what was the ring issue?? I didn't delete any of my photos, I think you mean Throwback's. It might pay for a Mod to clean up those posts. The ring date has been moved in Australia from 1st January to the 1st September so this will have an effect on some breeders. The birds will breed when they want to so tey don't care. I could use a handy man like you in my birdroom Daz....fancy a holiday PS I used a bugzapper in my old birdroom and had NO FERILITY ISSUES If it was only 12 months ago... I could have changed my holidays to two weeks and helped you in May while I was over. Good to hear that you had no problems with the zapper. This is a type of zapper for thse that don't know..
