Are you covering the lights in the flight?

Yes Sailorwolf the lights are in fact hose proof.

Daz, could it be possible to have a close up photo of the seed feeders you

are using in the breeding cabnets?

Please

These are the ones I use in the breeding cages. I just change the jar if I need more to feed more birds.

Looks awesome Daz!! :hap: Can't wait to see it finished.

Looking good Daz.

How dare you say the "she".It was probably her husband that put her up to it.(Laughing out loud) :D

Where do you get you feeders from? Can't wait to see the birds in the flights.

She :D .....

The feeders you can get at Pet City in Wishhart. Or at your local Club.

I submitted the application for permit. The council officer seems happy with it but needs a site inspection to make sure the facilities are up to regulations. This will be next week so I have to get the birds in the flights by then.

Thanks for that Daz, do you mind telling me the price of these feeders (do they come with the jar) and also do you keep the same feeder in the cage for when the chicks start eating on their own or do use an extra feeder or such.

Thanks Daz I will look next time I am over there.

Good luck with the council inspection.I can't believe you need a

permit.I wonder if I do?

Paul, give me a call. You can get those feeders from my budgie club quite cheap (they sell the bases and you do the jars)..........or come to tomorrow nights meeting with me....Rivervale at 7:30 PM :D

Thanks rainbow. Well this afternoon the Council inspected my aviary and it looks like I have past the first test. The only alteration is to put a bag of seed in a plastic container, something I was going to do anyway. This is to stop the mice.

Next is the building application. $$ The council office said he would help me where he could. I trust him.

He has told me not to stop my progress and also discussed views of installing a water tank to assist cleaning.

I have an orange light. :)

I am still a long way from approved but I am a bit more relaxed now. Stress = 6. :)

Why do you need a building application?? Why is all these rules and regulations you have to follow appearing now and not before you even started? :fear How annoying!

Daz your doing well with this, I think I would have been in a heap on the ground.

Did you offer the guy a free baby :fear

Why do you need a building application??

I'm thinking becuase you have power to the aviary. is this right?

My understanding is that the space is bigger than 10 metres square

Our shire council has no limits on birds ...just this advice

Birds

Keeping of birds can generate complaints from odours and noise. It is important to consider the impact on neighbours from the keeping of birds. Maintenance and cleaning to prevent odours is important as is minimising noise by not keeping roosters in residential areas or other noisy birds.

Got me thinking as well, so I looked up my shire and found this:

Pigeons and caged birds which require aviaries or large enclosures may be kept only in compliance with Council laws. An information sheet is available from the Customer Service Centre.

Guess I should duck in soon and get the info sheet to learn more.

There are different rules and regulations for each council in Australia. In the Pine Shire Council where I live, any structure in excess of 10 square meters must have a permit. Also if you live on a block of land under 2 hectairs (spl?) you can keep up to 20 birds with out a permit.

My aviary is 13 square meters and I currently have 69 birds. so I need a permit for the birds and the aviary.

Now an up date.

The council came and inspected my aviary for the keeping of the birds. It looks like I have past. They want to have another talk to the neighbours but they aggree that the aviary is a proper place to keep my birds. If the building application is past, I can keep my birds and can increase to 90 birds. But I have to make sure that the aviary is kept up to scratch and the noise doesn't increase too much.

I should know an out come by next Friday.

:) Congratulations Daz! Question, do you have piped in music for them? :(Laughing out loud):

I'll take some this afternoon for you VippiN  I am half way through the flights. So I will have to put in a bigg effort this weekend to finish it.

It'll look fantastic when it's all done and the birds are moved into the flights. Looking forward to more pics.

Daz, do you think you could run us through the construction method you are using to construct the flights. The box tubing looks like it may be joined with connectors and such perhaps ? Might be a good thing to learn about....you are doing really well, having made all of this yourself :ausb:
