November 14, 200618 yr Author Three weeks from This thursday. Here is the current plan. Finish the stock cages this week end. Put the existing aviary on Ebay for 10 days. After sold move the birds and equipment to the garage and into the stock cages. Dismantle the old aviary for moving. (Most to be done by the new owner) When the new shed arrives. Build it. Fit it out and move the birds back in. While the birds are in the stock cages, I'll be re evaluating them and culling them. I have some chicks that have to be reassessed. eg they looked to be cobalt but have changed to skyblues. And of cause the mistery budgies.
November 18, 200618 yr Author Well the aviary is now listed - Ebay I know have to finish the stock cages this week end. Next weekend is the last week end in toweeks that I have off. One of the four stock cages is completed. the other three will be finished tomorrow. Wish me luck.
November 18, 200618 yr Author Well bea I'd like to sell it for as much as I can but if I can get up to $500.00au I would be pleased. I all ready have 3 watchers looking at it but no bids yet.
November 19, 200618 yr Author RThanks Hath, Well the aviary is sold. A neighbour saw it on ebay recognised it as mine and knocked on the door. We agreed on a price and since I had no biddders I removed it from sale. I have also been busy on the Stock Cages. Except for the two top ones, they are now finished. Things are starting to look good. I'll have to wait til tomorrow to find out when the new shed should be arriving. Possibly three weeks time.
November 19, 200618 yr Daz, the new stock cages are looking great! I was wondering do you buy the cage fronts or are you a whiz with a solderer(?sp)/welder?
November 19, 200618 yr Author I wish, No I buy them. There is a supplier ear me. I'll have to see if I can get two more fronts this week. I have just been notified that the new shed will be delivered on the 29th of this month. Woopee
November 22, 200618 yr The stock cages are looking great and I'm looking forward to see the new shed. Also I've decided to build my new avairy/birdroom, because I'm expanding my lovebird and budgie stock and also I would like all my cages in one area as at the moment they are moved whenever my parents need the space for some purpose., also I currently have 8 different cages scattered around my large backyard which is quite a lot of work, carring around water and seed and cleaning cages. Anyway I love the set up of your avairy on ebay and I was wondering if you had time you could write down a small list of the materials you used if not I'd just like to ask about. If you found it a good bird room/avairy? Sorry my post is so long . I'm so jealous of the lucky person who bought it! Carri :ausb:
November 22, 200618 yr Author If you go to my web site by clicking on my signature and go to aviary. You can see the suppliers that helped me build the aviary.
November 25, 200618 yr Author I prepared my Cages to accept the birds And moved them in Main Cages Breeding Cages. Nursary
November 25, 200618 yr daz how did the cull of birds go (not killed) its quite hard to decide isnt it
November 25, 200618 yr Author I haven't culled yet. The top row are the birds that have been given to me or I have bought at auction. The next two rowes are the fledges chicks from the birds above. The bottom row is the BIrds and their chicks that I have had since the beginning. It is a hard discission. I have a Meeting night this monday and am going to approach one of the members to help me decide on the cull. I'll let you know how it goes. Edited November 25, 200618 yr by daz
November 25, 200618 yr Hi Daz, I would like to say that all your hard work is fantastic I cant wait to see the finished aviary. We plan on building a new one too. I hope it will be as nice as your first one. Thanks for the inspiration.
November 25, 200618 yr Author thanks Ridley. Here we go. Going........... Going........... Almost gone GONE!!!
November 25, 200618 yr ARRGHHH LMAO i hope you will be at the other end to reassemble it all WHAT A JIGSAW PUZZLE
November 25, 200618 yr Author Una I will be send that to the dump tomorrow. Todays been a big day. The birds have been relocated and reaprased as to there proper variety. I have a chick nearly broke it's leg. I found it caught in the nursary through a hook. Don't know how it did it. I checked it and found the skin had been torn to the bone. She is okay to night and has started to reuse it. I keep a mixture of Olive oil and detoll on it. All the hooks have been changed to a different type. Taken one trip to the dump. Demoed a shed and relocated it to the neighbours. Watched the Aussie and the Kiwis game. Great game. Two great teams. .........and now to rest. Tomorrow will be just as big. Oh for those tha have wondered. I have two pairs in the breeding cage. one has 6 eggs the other 5 chicks under 16 days old. The move to new locations didn't worry them. The hen is still siting on the eggs and the other parents are feeding the chicks.
November 26, 200618 yr Author I hate messes and heat but the mess won out. Back yard cleaned in 34 deg c heat. Birds are enjoying 31 deg heat today in the garage. Better than 42 in the old aviary.
November 26, 200618 yr Good Luck with the aviary Daz, swooning here seeing the temp, we did get to that a few times this past summer and I nearly died. See the grass is turning brown as well, do you have watering restrictions?
November 26, 200618 yr Author Yes we are on Stage 4 Water restrictions. Dams are emptying. They forcast rain for tomorrow but they are usually wrong.
November 26, 200618 yr Looking good Daz You have a nice big yard from what I can see from the pics - that is awesome. So odd to have you so hot and us so cold.
November 26, 200618 yr Are you following the theme of the two storey houses, Daz and doing a two storey aviary complex ?
