Hi all,

Could someone please post some baby pics of YFII. Maybe before and after moulting? I was told my baby was a type 2 but her yellow is very pale. She has recently moulted for the first time and her body color has changed some but her face is still very pale. Is this normal for her age?

the yellow on the face can vary pale to very golden hence golden face

If you check out Holiday Budgies by bubbles the first picture you can see a lot of different Type 2 YF in her aviary.

 

The 2 means that the yellow bleeds into the body and can change the color of the blue to eventually green and each molt the bird turns more and more greenish. It doesn't have anything to do with the color of the yellow.

Yeah I know what the type two means. I just wondered if her face would brighten up after a few moults. I have a gold face II. He is gorgeous. I wonder what would I would get if I breed those two.

As for breeding YF2 and the different colorations start a new post and ask in the breeding section as I am not quite sure on the answer .

Oh your welcome and that first picture is a great way to see Karen's yellowface 2 there is one that is 1/2 green and 1/2 blue that really sticks out and I will be looking for your post because I am interested in the answer

the yellow may birghten like all the feathers do int he first moult but will not change from a light yellow to a yellow matching your goldenface.

Here is a "before and after" photo of a YF2 spangle baby at 5 weeks and now at around 7 months

Oh my gosh what a beauty! My little Terra is paler than yours, but yours really brightened up! I didn't expect that she would get as bright as my Golden face (Jasper), and I don't think she will get as bright as yours, but either way she is a gorgeous girl.
