Posted November 5, 200618 yr Yesterday I bought two bugies one male who is also completely yellow apart from white cheek patches and a green section across his mid section here are the photos (sorry about the quality) I also have a hen who i'm not sure whether she is a dom or a recessive pied she has a light brown cere but no iris ring therefore i'm not sure whether she is a young dom or an older recessive. Does anyone have any ideas???
November 5, 200618 yr hello, your birds are beautiful, i am just learning mutations so i can not help you there, but i wanted to tell you that the rust on the cage is REALLY bad for your budgie babies, please if you have another cage to put them in even if its temp till you caan get this one cleaned up. again beautiful babies you have there.
November 5, 200618 yr HOW GORGEOUS ANNA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You have a double factor spangle green cock, and a dutch dominant pied yellow face blue type I hen.... They are sooooo gorgeous!!!!!! ps- I was thinking about the rust too Anna...why not put them in the white breeder cage? May save lives.... Kirbs
November 5, 200618 yr Thanks for the tip, this cage is only temporary, a new cage is arriving later tonight. Thanks for that Kirby , (new cage coming tonight) so do you think she is old enough to breed from?
November 5, 200618 yr no way! (Laughing out loud) Shes just a baby Anna! Probably only 6-8 weeks old But the dfs is at least 8 months...looks about 1-3 years old to me... And a looker he is! I want him! So, your planning on breeding again Anna? Is that why you got them? Kirby
November 5, 200618 yr To me it looks like you have a df dominant pied male and a recessive pied female. Kirbs - aren't df spangles either all white or all yellow?
November 5, 200618 yr Good guess BEa... But doublfe factor spangles are a body colour (white in blue series, and yellow in greens eries) then they can have their body colour (green for green series and blue for blue series) on their stomachs. So, this cock is a df green spangle, as the green is showing up in the breast of the bird...Ill try to find a picture of what i mean okay? Heres one.... http://www.adbudgerigars.co.uk/images/Youn...angle_cock1.jpg However Anna birds green stand our more. But see how hes got the green chest aswell...but yellow wings and body... Kirbs
November 5, 200618 yr Thank you guys for all your info!! I thought that the female may be a bit too young I will wait until next year before I breed from her. However I will now need to find a new friend for the male I would like to preserve the DF spangle would I be best to pair him with spangle (Yellow Series)?? as I don't think I will ever come across another Df sangle for some time. P.S. I have moved everyone around and made room for them in a new rust free cage .
November 5, 200618 yr Bea DF spangle can get a suffusion of colour around the neck area, this guy does seem to have a lot of it and I was looking at maybe a DF pied as well but the total lack of head line marks ( especially under the eye) or throat spots makes me think he is DF spangle. As to breeding matching him to anything but a single factor spangle will give sf spangle babies. The other bird, your hen could either be a Dutch dominant or recessive, the fact that no iris ring is showing and she looks to be at least 6 months makes me wonder recessive. If by the time she is a year and no iris ring appears then she is a recessive.
