Posted November 3, 200618 yr Hi a while ago i posted pictures of my breeding birds Marie and Louis I told you that the had no iris rings, but I have found that every fortnight their iris ring shows up.Both birds eyes are a red plum colour. Louis who is the white one, in certain light seems a grey/brown colour which is very faint. This colour is on his body and wavy lines on his wings. Marie looks the same as the photo but has a green tinge to her back again in certain lights. A colour and type for both birds was never confirmed completly. So I have some photos of their last chicks still in the nest, they look the same now fully feathered and have plum eyes. I would love to have a final descision made on their type /colour. Thanks Carri
November 3, 200618 yr I can't help with the genetics but wanted to say that Marie and Louis are gorgeous!
November 3, 200618 yr The babies look lutino I can see the red eyes (not the dark plum). Breeding this pair you may only get lutino and not inos - either way gorgeous. As for the parents do you have pics of their backs? If he does have the plum eyes and he has the cinnamon (brown marking) I would say he is a lacewing which is a combination of albino and cinnamon mutation. Therefore any lacewings he produces would be females and all his boy offspring would be split for the cinnamon gene. Marie because she is a green based bird it is very common to have the hue of green around her. Her eye doesn't look red which if it was she would be a lutino if her eye is more plum which it looks like I would say a dark eyed clear. http://www.geocities.com/budgie-place/p_colors.html#darkeyed you can see in the 1st picture the hue of green on the yellow bird. Are you sure you are seeing an iris ring and the eye lightening because if so that would indicate a double factor spangle instead on your female bird. Edited November 3, 200618 yr by lovey
November 3, 200618 yr The yellow bird clearly has iris rings to me. Has she any patch/hue of colour around her neck? Unless the eyes on the yellow look black I think you have two Ino's here the yellow called Lutino the white Albino. And Lovey is right the brown markings on the male would indicate Lacewing.
November 5, 200618 yr Heya Adelaide Girl, i say that your baby budgies are a dilute Lutino because of the males light colour mixing with the dark of females colour, same way that other dilute mutations are created; such as love birds. hope your babys are going well Cya!! Sco-tie,
