Posted October 29, 200618 yr l noticed just now that Popcorn had some growth on her cere , around her beak , so right away l grabbed her ( real gently ) and l put her in a different cage , right now l have her quarantined from the rest , l also checked each of my other birds and they were all fine . l suspect that she has Scaly Face , here is what she looks like ; so tomorrow l'm going to try and get a hold of my avian vet , hopefully l will be able to get an appointment soon , so l can start her on the proper treatment right away and also to start to treat the rest of the my flock so they won't get it . well , l'm off to clean their cage and everything else . November 1, 200618 yr You should get a spot on treatment from the vet called Ivermectin. One spot at the back of the neck on the affected budgie and any who have been near it, then repeat the treatment 2 weeks later. Simple as that. If you look at the sticky topics in this forum you will see a before and after scaly face posted by me, ivermectin works really well.
November 1, 200618 yr Author update . l just got back from the vet and yes it is scaly face , popcorn got treated and l have to go back next week and every week for 4 weeks for her treatment . my vet also recommended to rub olive oil or baby oil or mineral oil in the effected area , to ease the itchiness from the mites .
