Posted October 28, 200618 yr What do you reckon I'll get from this gorgeous couple? I think at least 4 of the eggs are fertile:
October 28, 200618 yr I reckon (you will get some gorgeous babies) Opalines will be females Normals and if the male is split for recessive pied you can get recessive pied babies. All blue babies
October 28, 200618 yr Wow. I love the male. I have a female with the same mutation and colourings but her head isn't as nicely shaped as your guys. Can't wait to see the bubs!
November 4, 200618 yr Author We have our first hatchling! Funny thing about motherhood. This hen is a viscous so & so & yesterday when I took the box down, she climbed out (see her tail?) and sat on the side and nibbled my hand!! A month ago she would have ripped the skin off! November 4, 200618 yr I have absolutely no idea yet on the genetics, but my they are two absolutely gorgeous birds. Any babies they have would have to be stunners! Congrats on the first hatchling

November 11, 200618 yr it's all about the non-existing black dot that the opaline babies get. white down feathers. they are looking soooo cute.
November 11, 200618 yr great looking bubs there The oldest is an opaline and so a girl and the second looks like it could be one as well. I agree 1st and 2nd are opalines
November 11, 200618 yr it's all about the non-existing black dot that the opaline babies get. white down feathers. they are looking soooo cute. but don't the recessive pieds get that in the white area too? or white birds?
November 11, 200618 yr Yes ino and recessive (in areas) get it as well, but the fact that we know the farther is an opaline and the wings are completly black ( no patches that could mean a pied) makes be believe they are opaline. Do you see the tiny black dots on the very top of the head near the cere of the oldest? Normal coloured babies get that all over they bodies as the start of down feather showing.
November 18, 200618 yr Author All babies are well fed and growing! I believe that the eldest baby is a violet as it's pins certainly don't look blue. This is the eldest baby: Edited November 18, 200618 yr by karen
November 26, 200618 yr Author One of the babies died. All 3 are definately purple birds. The picture shows them as cobalt, they are not cobalt! This is the eldest baby:
November 26, 200618 yr sunlight pics are great you can definetly see the coloration in the 2nd picture ((hugs)) the baby, rip little one
November 29, 200618 yr Author Checked them today as I'm worried with the extreme heat we've been having. They are all okay. Their colour is darkening so they might not be violet after all.
