October 24, 200618 yr hi everyone i wanted to know how can i get my budgies to eat veggies and what type of nutrition does carrots give budgie cause my fridge is full with it and i am tired of it. my mom tries to make me eat every day but enough is enough lolcan anybody answer Dark green leafy vegetables are best for nutrition. Just keep giving them a dish of fresh veggies every day until they start to eat. Once one of them gets brave enough to try it, they all will. I feed mine parsley, kayle and broccoli fresh daily. It took a little while but mine finally took to veggies. I even used a plastic toy budgie which I pretended was eating the veggies, and my guys fell for it. Just be persistent and don't stop feeding them veggies.
October 24, 200618 yr okay i will try that then Hopefully, some other members can tell you what they did to get their budgies to eat veggies. I don't feed mine carrots as they didn't seem to like them. Just like people, they have different tastes.
October 25, 200618 yr My young fella inside was offered them and eventually took to them, he was friendly and starting to trust what I gave him, added a small bit of brocholi to the top of his cage with his toys one day and thinking it was another toy got the hang of it. (he doesn't like hard vegies, big sook- to hard to bite!) The aviary birds I used to hang a millet spray in the same spot all the time then started putting the carrot sticks and such there and they just took to it- now they will eat grated vegies in a bowl. (they murder the carrot sticks though- they love hard vegies) On this note- my bird loves brocholi but he stinks the next day from it- anyone else get this?? He loves to sit near my face maybe thats why I really notice it
October 26, 200618 yr When i started the veggie thing with Apple he was freaked out by the whole thing.. so i actually diced up his veggies into seed sized chunks and mixed it in with his bird seed as he go use to it the sizes of the chunks increased.. Now he loves his veggies although the purple cauliflour freaked him out a lil and i guess him eating them has taught the other two inside to like them also It might take a while to get your one use to them but the key is to never give up and offer them to him every day even if he doesn't touch them... One day he will surprise you and he will be a happy bird when he works it all out Cheers  Una
