Bonding With Three At The Same Time?

Featured Replies

Hi there,

After a recent loss amongst my group, my mother went out & purchased a new budgie. The following day (b/c the pet store had so many) we went back & I selected another one...then she went back and bought ANOTHER one. So...we now have 3 new budgies. In the past I have trained & successfully bonded with 2 budgies at once, but I'm very concerned that 3 is going to be very very difficult & I have to say I don't have as much time now that I'm working full-time as opposed to when I was going to school & was home all the time in between classes. Is there any advice that can be given on training multiple birds at the same time??

Thanks in advance!

I haven't done it but common sense would tell me alot of time out of the cage in the evening with alot of rewards and treats along with training them to each step up daily. Keeping them in close contact with you as if you were part of the flock.

It's going to be hard as heck but it's not impossible. It also depends on the personality of the budgies involved. If she can, have your mother interact with them as much as they'll allow each day. With enough interaction, they will get used to and allow being handled but it will be very hard to build a close relationship with them unless they're getting this attention consistently.
